NH Events have been hosting ‘Disco Fever’ online parties every evening since the lockdown in March 2020. Each show is a quick 30 minutes jam-packed full of party tunes, fancy dress, fun and laughter!
The shows have been helping to raise money for charity, in honour of Neil’s mum who we sadly lost in March 2020 and Neil’s Dad who passed away in 2000. Each of our show sponsors and lots of the viewers have been donating to the British Heart Foundation – so far we have raised £2710, which is AMAZING! We have been overwhelmed by everyone’s support at such a tough time, and we hope that the videos are giving everyone something to smile about.
So far we have done a show almost every night since lockdown, meaning we have now hosted an amazing 100 shows in 101 days! Our shows and fundraising story have been featured in local newspapers and DJ Neil has even had an appearance on BBC Look East.
Each night we have a different sponsor/theme, with fancy dress inspired by the sponsor, themed requests and homemade props. To date, we have had 24 company sponsors ranging from builders, a pub and a hot tub company to a garage, door company and skincare brand. We’ve also hosted 7 virtual birthday parties, an online hen do, 2 big parties to thank all of the NHS/key workers and voluntary workers, plus 5 bingo nights and 5 quizzes. Anything goes – it’s all just a bit of fun to help lift peoples’ spirits during lockdown!
We have given away lots of prizes, including 18 Disco Fever mugs, 1 world exclusive Disco Fever clock, 8 Disco Fever shopper bags and 5 Disco Fever key-rings!
We have a strong following of regular viewers who tune in every night to join the ‘Disco Fever Family’. In total, our videos have had over 100,000 views, with viewers as far away as Bermuda, Italy, Canada and Saudi Arabia! And new viewers are joining us every night!
For people living alone, the videos have been a great way to connect with family and friends, whilst having a giggle at Neil’s fancy dress outfits, and dancing along to their favourite tunes.
We are really just trying to do our bit to spread some happiness during these strange times, as well as raising some pennies for a charity very close to our hearts. It really makes us happy to see the enjoyment people are getting from the ‘Disco Fever’ shows, and have every intention of continuing the shows until normality returns!
